"Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game" -Babe Ruth

Let's be honest, it's been awhile. To put it bluntly in fact, it's been far too long and the thought of it makes me want to crawl back into the hole I've been hiding in for so long. I started this blog with a spark of inspiration while I was on maternity leave and although that feeling never went away, time sure has. I have since gone back to my job as a toddler teacher so between that and being a new mom, I've definitely dropped the ball in the blogging/sign making department.

I still enjoy sign making and that is something that will never change. Although, with my son getting older, I find myself busier than ever, and finding the time to paint is hard. One thing that I've struggled with the most lately is self-doubt. As much as I love creating signs and seeing the completed product, I've been letting the fear of failure take over and that in general has discouraged me from creating things lately. Will I have enough time to make that sign? What if the customer doesn't like it? What if it gets damaged during shipping? All of these things have deferred me from the sign making world lately and I hate it. I hate that I think this way. I've never been a fan of change and I'm the kind of person that prefers staying inside of my own little box and never venturing out. If it weren't for my husband, I honestly don't know where I'd be. He is my biggest supporter. He lifts me up when I'm down and although he hates my mentality of doubt, he STILL believes in me when I don't even believe in myself. He pushes me to be the best person that he knows I can be.

When I started this little sign shop of mine back in 2010, I ran strictly off of custom orders. Since then, I have created a few pre-made signs (mostly for craft fairs) and felt discouraged at how most of them didn't sell as quickly as the custom ordered signs. After taking some time to think about my little business and what I want to make of it, I think that it is best at this time to fill my shop with pre-made designs, so that each sign is ready to go at the time an order is placed. Not only will this give me the freedom to design what I want, when I want, but it will also allow me to take time for my family when I need to. In addition to this, my awesome husband pitched the idea to me of free handing some of my pieces to offer a truly unique aspect to my signs. With that being said, I am excited to get back to the drawing board (literally) and create some beautiful and unique works of art for you to display in your home.

For those of you that have supported me since day one, or at some point along the way, THANK YOU! It's because of you (and my wicked awesome husband, of course) that I continue to follow my dreams. I can't wait to get back to creating and sharing my work with you all once again.

Much Love,

Bre
